Rainbow Casino restaurant under investigation after woman ‘horrified by mouse infestation'

A woman claims a "disgusting" mouse ran across a casino's restaurant as she dined there.

The customer, who wished to be anonymous, says she spotted the brown rodent while she ate in Rainbow Casino at 11pm on Saturday, January 25.

Bristol City Council has confirmed it is investigating the complaint against the business, which is based on Bristol city centre’s Explore Lane.

The woman said: "We had finished our meal and paid our bill. All was fine.

"A few minutes later, a mouse ran across the restaurant. It was only a small one, but it ran from one side to the other, in the gambling area.

"We were obviously horrified. We then noticed under the tables there were mouse traps. There were two traps, about 10 inches long.

"We brought this to the manager's attention, who was rude and just replied, 'We know we have a problem.'"

The customer added that the food was "good", but described the sight of the mouse as "disgusting".

"I can’t imagine what the kitchens are like if the restaurant is like this," she said.

A council spokesman said an investigation is underway. He declined to confirm whether a food hygiene inspector will visit the premises.

The casino has a five-star hygiene rating following an inspection in September 2018, meaning its standards were found to be 'very good'.

Rainbow Casino hit headlines on Monday over an allegation it allowed a self-excluded gambling addict to enter, before he lost £1,400 on blackjack.
