Oct. 28--The famous Rainbow Bar Grill on Sunset Boulevard has been closed after a health inspector found live and dead cockroaches in the facility's kitchen.
Frequented by rock legends such as Guns N' Roses and actors, the West Hollywood bar was forced to close its doors after an L.A. County public health inspector found 15 cockroaches, including a living adult roach and six young nymph roaches, according to a health report.
That was one of the critical health violations discovered during the inspection last Wednesday at the bar at 9015 Sunset Blvd.
Other violations, including improper food temperatures and unclean food surfaces, were also found at the bar, according to the health report.
Nevertheless, the venue still received a score of 83 and a grade of B.
Then, on Monday, health inspectors conducted a second inspection and found two dead roaches and a living adult roach and two young nymph roaches, health officials said Tuesday.
"The public health permit is not reinstated and the facility is not allowed to reopen," the department said.
A third inspection has not been scheduled.
Last Friday, the Rainbow bar said it was closing because it had "legitimate repairs," including remodeling, to do in the kitchen.
"Thank you everyone for your continued support," the bar said.
