Rain on the way for Northern Ireland as sunshine set to come to a halt

Wet conditions are expected to hit Northern Ireland from Tuesday following weeks of sunny spells.

It will be a week with "scattered showers" as temperatures return to normal for this time of year, according to the Met Office.

The Met Office said much of country was expected to be "cloudy with outbreaks of rain".

For Tuesday, the Met Office said: "A bright and dry start to Tuesday with some sunshine. However cloud will build, and some showers, possibly heavy, are likely to develop through the afternoon. Winds will be light and variable."

The unsettled patch of April showers comes after weeks of warm weather across the country.

And Wednesday is not looking great either. They added: "A cloudy day. Mainly dry but some outbreaks of rain developing in the afternoon, locally hevay. Freshening southeasterly winds."

Meanwhile, for the rest of the week, the Met Office said it would remain "showery" for large parts of Northern Ireland.

They said: "Rain on Thursday turning showery. Bright with scattered showers on Friday. A dry start on Saturday then rain."
