Rain hasn't dampened the demand for Hunter seafood

Recent rain may have dented the supply of some Easter seafood offerings but the Hunter's catch of the day remained as popular as ever on Friday.

The traditional line up outside the Fisherman's Co-op at Wickham stretched well beyond the building even before sunrise.

After a brief lull, the crowds reemerged just after 9am.

"It's just starting to pick up again now, " Co-op retail manager Darren Platford said.

While school prawns were off the menu this year, Mr Platford said Hunter trawlers had delivered bumper supplies of small and medium king prawns.

"Our local fresh fish have been selling off the hook, he said. There's also plenty of salmon, barramundi, snapper and bream and lobsters."

NSW Easter seafood prices were generally up as hundreds of fishers continued to clean up the damage from last week's wild weather.

In addition to damaged infrastructure, contaminated estuaries meant some species were unavailable.
