Rain forces Cardinals to postpone Wednesday's game

ST. LOUIS _ With the threat of persistent and aggressive rain storms in the St. Louis area all day, the Cardinals have postponed Wednesday's game against the Brewers and pushed back the start time for Thursday's game.

The 12:45 p.m. scheduled start time for Thursday's series finale has been moved to 6:15 p.m. St. Louis time at Busch Stadium.

Tickets for the Thursday game will be good Thursday night.

A makeup date for the Cardinals' Wednesday game has not been set.

Adam Wainwright will start Thursday's game against the Brewers, and the rotation will shift back one day from there. Lance Lynn, Mike Leake, and Michael Wacha, in that order, will draw the assignments this weekend in the Cardinals' first visit to Atlanta's new ballpark.

This marks the third time on this homestand that the Cardinals have had to cancel a scheduled game due to rain. One of the games was already completed as a doubleheader a week ago against Toronto, and games against the Reds and Brewers will be made up later in the season.

The Reds game postponed from this past Saturday is tentatively scheduled for a makeup date in June.

The Brewers have two more visits to Busch Stadium this season with a series June 13-15 that could include a doubleheader, and the Brewers return for the final home stand of the season, Sept. 20-Oct. 1.

Tickets for Wednesday night's game will be good for the rescheduled game later this season.
