Railway worker was stopped by police in car with self-sealed bags of cannabis

A railway worker surrendered himself to police on a warrant when he learned he was due in court for possessing cannabis.

Jordan McIntosh, 24, of Bentinck Road, Forest Fields, was contacted by cops that he had been due at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Friday, June 25.

McIntosh made arrangements to surrender himself this morning (Monday, June 28) because he had not been aware of Friday's court date sent in a letter to his mother's address.

Today he pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis in Hungerhill Road, St Ann's, on November 25 last year.

He was stopped by police and cannabis could be smelt coming from his vehicle.

Three self-sealed bags of cannabis were found and a fourth bag of cannabis at his home address.

"The defendant admitted he had been smoking cannabis but answered no comment to questions in interview," explained Emma Wakefield, prosecuting. "The defendant handed himself in to a police station this morning".

Stephen Burdon, mitigating, said the incident was last November and McIntosh was released under investigation by police and did not know what was happening in connection with the case.

The first hearing was last Friday. He was not aware of the letter that was sent about that as he works away.

When he returned at the weekend, he saw he should have been in court on Friday.

Magistrates fined him £150, ordered he pay costs of £85 and a £34 victim surcharge.
