A senseless attack on two teenage boys took place because "they were from a different area."
The area around Eastham Rake train station in Wirral was reported to be "swarming with police and ambulance" after the attack, which happened on Sunday evening.
Unconfirmed reports said a group of youths from Ellesmere Port got off the train at Eastham Rake and assaulted the two boys, believed to be aged 14, because they were local to the area.

It was reported that either a bike seat or metal bars were used in the attack, which it was said was filmed and put on social media.
The two victims were taken to hospital with cuts and other injuries. They have since been discharged.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Eastham Rake railway station at 7.28pm on Sunday, January 16, following reports of an assault.
"Paramedics also attended, and two teenage boys were taken to a local hospital for treatment to minor injuries. Both have since been discharged.
"Enquiries into this incident are ongoing."
