Railway line re-opens after 100 tonnes of debris fell on track during Storm Jorge

A railway line has been re-opened four days after debris from a landslip fell onto the track.

The Aberdare line was closed north of Pontypridd following a landslip near Mountain Ash on Friday night.

It left nearly 100 tonnes of debris blocking the busy route.

But on Tuesday afternoon, Network Rail said that the mess had now been cleared and the line was back up and running again.

The company said that the team had worked around the clock to get the Aberdare line reopened and shared some pictures of how they did it.

On Tuesday afternoon, Network Rail said: "Services will take a little while to return, so please check before you travel. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

Storm Jorge has battered Wales with 70mph winds  and heavy rain starting on Friday evening.
