Rail commuters are facing rush-hour disruption after a trespasser on the tracks near Denmark Hill forced lines to be blocked.

Southeastern and Thameslink said services may be delayed or revised until at least 9am while staff attempted to remove the trespasser.

All lines between Elephant & Castle and Peckham Rye were blocked after a train driver spotted the trespasser and made an emergency call.

Southeastern said all services would be diverted away from Denmark Hill to run through Herne Hill incident as a result of the “ongoing trespass incident”.

Thameslink said tickets were being accepted on other services including London Underground and London Buses.

National Rail warned passengers in update which said: “A trespass incident at Denmark Hill are causing disruption to journeys through the station.

“Train services running through this station may be delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 09:00.”

There were also delays on the District and Circle lines following a signal failure at Tower Hill.
