Raids on JMB units in Vizag, Faridabad

KOLKATA: The questioning of Lalu Sen, the local linkman, who is suspected to have helped the arrested three JMB members in Kolkata, has revealed that the terror outfit was involved in human trafficking. It ensured JMB leaders, like Anwar Ali Hridoy, could fund the outfit.

The STF of Kolkata Police said on Saturday that Sen, along with those arrested from Haridevpur—Naziur Rehman Pavel, Mikail Khan alias Sk Sabbir (30) and Rabiul Islam (22)—set up offices in Faridabad and Vizag. Raids were carried out on the two units.

“Sen facilitated the transport of Bangladeshi labourers to foreign countries, including India, in exchange for money. This ensured a steady flow of funds for the terror module and helped the outfit recruit members,” said an officer. Sources said searches were carried out at the Faridabad and Vizag offices. “The busted module worked on raising funds through trafficking and recruited JMB footsoldiers,” said an officer.

Sources said Sen visited Vizag and Faridabad even recently. “Sen had a partner to look after the Faridabad work whose statements will be recorded,” said an officer. At Vizag, cops are probing if JMB members of an old south Indian module contacted Sen.
