Raiders WR Antonio Brown might play vs. Broncos in Week 1 after all

The never-ending Antonio Brown saga continues.

Earlier this week, the wide receiver got into a verbal fight with Oakland Raiders general manager Mike Mayock. The team planned to suspended Brown for his actions, ESPN and NFL Network reported after the fight.

Brown issued an apology during a team meeting Friday, though, which may have restored his standing in Oakland. Now “there is a real chance he not only does not get suspended but actually plays” against the Broncos in Week 1, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

So it sounds like Brown might face Denver on “Monday Night Football” this week. The 31-year-old receiver caught 104 passes for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns last season and will be a tough test for the Broncos’ secondary.

“He’s really quick and really fast,” coach Vic Fangio said Wednesday. “He gets to his high speed very fast — quicker than most. He’s very elusive, he’s a good runner after the catch and he’s a very competitive guy. There’s nothing easy about defending him.”

Monday’s game (8:20 p.m. MT) will be nationally televised on ESPN.
