Raiders will not share Allegiant Stadium with UNLV this fall as Mountain West postpones sports

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect college sports across the country, the latest to take action is the Mountain West. The conference announced today that they would be postponing all fall sports indefinitely, which includes football games.

The Mountain West is made up of 12 schools

West

San Jose State
Nevada (Reno)
UNLV
Fresno State
San Diego State
Hawaii

Mountain

Boise State
New Mexico
Air Force
Utah State
Colorado State
Wyoming

UNLV was to play games in the new Allegiant Stadium, which is in its finishing stages now, along with the newly relocated Las Vegas Raiders. As of now, the Raiders are still on schedule to hold their 2020 season. But they will be the only football team to inhabit this fall.

Other fall sports affected by today’s decision include men’s and women’s cross country, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball.

The hope for the Mountain West is to re-schedule their fall sports in the spring. In terms of the football program, the question becomes what that means for players who may be looking to enter the 2021 NFL Draft, considering it usually takes place in the spring after months of college bowls and the scouting combine.
