Raiders will not be headed to Napa as NFL mandates training camp be held at team facility

On Tuesday, all 32 NFL teams were informed they will not be permitted to hold their training camps at remote sites, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Several NFL teams, including the Raiders, leave their facility for training camp. The Raiders have been holding their training camp in Napa – which is about an hour north of Oakland – since they returned to Oakland in 1995.

With the COVID-19 outbreak, the NFL is being cautious and this mandate would mean the team would either be holding training camp at their facility in Alameda or their newly constructed facility in Henderson, Nevada.

This past week, trucks were spotted at their new facility in Napa, indicating the first items are being moved in. Though, that doesn’t necessarily mean the facility, as well as the practice fields, will be up and running by late July when camp is to start.

Keep in mind, temperatures in Las Vegas get extremely hot in late July/August, so many practices may have to take place indoors.

The original plan was to hold training camp in Napa and head for their new facility in Henderson immediately after camp broke. It’s possible the team decides to move into their new facility early, or they could simply stick with the original move-in date, holding camp at their facility in Alameda.

We have reached out for comment from the Raiders and have been told that we would receive word when there is anything official. This post will be updated with that information at that time.
