Now that the 2020 NFL Combine is completed, teams will start attending Pro Days and will be completing their 30 private visits at their team facilities. One such visit for the Raiders will be Florida International quarterback James Morgan, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
Morgan started his career at Bowling Green State, before eventually transferring to Florida International. He finished his collegiate career with 65 passing touchdowns and 34 interceptions, despite only completing 57.2 percent of his passes.
At the 2020 East-West Shrine Game, Morgan was impressive as he completed 9-14 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown. During that game, he showed off his impressive arm talent and incredible ball placement. His biggest weakness is a lack of consistency, especially on easier throws.
Morgan projects as a Day 3 pick at quarterback, but he has all of the tools to make it in the NFL physically. In the Pro Football Focus Draft Guide, Morgan was given the NFL comparison of Davis Webb, who was selected in the third round by the New York Giants. Like Webb, Morgan has an elite arm and that will get him drafted alone.
Remember the name “James Morgan” on the third day of the draft as this is the type of quarterback that Jon Gruden could fall in love with late in the draft and develop behind Derek Car. Morgan could be brought in to compete with DeShone Kizer and Mike Glennon for a roster spot in 2020.
