Raiders Week 9 injury designations: Both centers listed questionable

The Oakland Raiders have declared injury designations for their Week 9 matchup against the Detroit Lions, listing six players as questionable, including their top two centers.

Questionable

C Rodney Hudson (ankle)
OL/C Andre James (ankle)
DT PJ Hall (shoulder)
S Erik Harris (illness)
DE Josh Mauro (groin)
KR/WR Dwayne Harris (foot)

Hudson is the Raiders starting center, James the reserve, and both missed practices on Wednesday and Thursday this week but were able to return to a limited practice on Friday.

If Hudson can’t go on Sunday against the Lions, James is option B, and if James is also unable to play, the team would shift starting left guard Richie Incognito inside to center.

Hall suffered a mid-week ankle injury, and like most mid-week injuries, this could be problematic. If he is unable to go they Raiders would be down one of their best run defenders.

Harris missed Thursday with an illness and assuming things run their course, he should be good to play on Sunday — although it will be worth keeping an eye on him come game time.

Mauro and Harris were unable to practice all week and they are both surprisingly listed as questionable. It’s rare for players to miss a week of practice and suit up on Sunday. If Mauro misses this game it would take some steam out of their situational pass-rushing. Losing Harris could be a much bigger problem, as he is the Raiders starting punt and kick returner.

Not listed with an injury designation in Week 9

RB Josh Jacobs (shoulder)
RT Trent Brown (calf)
RG Gabe Jackson (knee)
WR Tyrell Williams (foot)
LB Tahir Whitehead (wrist/shoulder)

All of the players on this list were at least limited practice participants every day this week and are expected to be good to go on Sunday.
