Raiders trade up for EDGE rusher Josh Allen in CBS mock draft

If the Raiders stay at pick No. 4, it is unlikely the Raiders will be able to address their edge rush need as the top two players at the position are unlikely to be on the board. But could the Raiders make a move inside the top-3 to make sure they secure one of those two studs at defensive end?

In a recent mock draft by Cody Benjamin at CBS Sports, he has the Raiders trading up to No. 3 to secure Kentucky’s, Josh Allen. Take a look at his explanation for the trade and the selection:

With Murray off the board and extra picks on hand, Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock embrace their best chance at filling Khalil Mack’s shoes by ensuring they land Allen’s elite size and speed. The Raiders pull off a Bears-ian one-spot swap to get their guy, sending No. 4, No. 106, a 2020 third and 2020 fourth to the Jets.

Would it be a complete shock to see the Raiders trade up from No. 4? No. However, it’s unlikely that Allen would be the target. Instead, grabbing Ohio State’s Nick Bosa would make a little more sense for Oakland.

Bosa would fit better in Paul Guenther’s defense and would instantly become the team’s best edge rusher. However, either Allen or Bosa would be a significant upgrade for Oakland. Don’t be shocked if the Raiders make a small trade up on draft day to select either Allen or Bosa.
