Raiders trade down with Giants in latest CBS Sports mock draft

For the second time in as many days, a mock draft has been written that has the Oakland Raiders trading back from the No. 4 pick. With a few teams behind them desperately searching for franchise quarterbacks, I fully expect that trend to continue.

In CBS Sports’ latest mock draft, the Raiders traded with the Giants to move back from pick No. 4 to No. 6 in the first round. While the compensation was not listed, according to the trade value chart, this trade down in the first round would be worth about a third-round pick. However, when trading up for a quarterback, the price is often more expensive. Even for this small of a trade down, expect the Raiders to receive at least a second-round pick.

In this mock draft, the Raiders selected defensive lineman Rashan Gary at No. 6, while grabbing two of the best receivers in the class at the end of the first round. Here is the full list of picks via Jared Dubin of CBS Sports:

No.6 – Rashan Gary, DT, Michigan

No.24 – Kelvin Harmon, WR, North Carolina State

No.27 – N’Keal Harry, WR, Arizona State

As always, the pick of Rashan Gary inside the top 10 will raise an eyebrow for me. Gary just didn’t have enough production in college to warrant a top-10 selection, despite his athleticism. He’s just not worth a top-tier pick in this draft.

But the story here is the two receivers; Kelvin Harmon and N’Keal Harry. It’s no secret the Raiders need to add to the position this offseason, but grabbing two similar players at the bottom of the first round seems like overkill. Considering the state of their defense, this wouldn’t be an ideal mock, even with the extra compensation acquired.
