Raiders to meet with Colorado State WR Preston Williams

The Raiders may not be done adding to their wide receiver corps despite the additions of Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams. With eight picks in this year’s draft, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them target a receiver in the mid-rounds.

One player that could be a target is former Colorado State receiver, Preston Williams. According to Austin Gayle of Pro Football Focus, the Raiders are scheduled to meet with Williams next month as one of their 30 pre-draft visits.

Williams transferred from Tennessee in 2016 after an off-season misdemeanor assault charge. He was forced to sit out the 2017 season before breaking out in 2018. In his final collegiate season, Williams caught 96 passes for 1,345 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Williams is a fascinating prospect because if it weren’t for his off the field issues, he could potentially be a top-50 selection. However, expect him to fall to the third day of the draft, where he presents some value. Williams has all the traits of a WR1 in the NFL and isn’t a bad gamble after the first 100 picks or so.
