Former All-Pro tight end Jason Witten informed ESPN’s Todd Archer on Wednesday that he intends to retire for a second time after spending the 2020 season with the Raiders. Witten retired before the 2018 season but came back in 2019 with the Cowboys before signing a free-agent deal with the Raiders last offseason.

Witten is a lock to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer and is one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. He was originally a third-round pick by the Cowboys in 2003 and went on to have a 17-year career. Witten played in all 16 games with the Raiders this season, catching 13 passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
The Raiders are set at tight end despite Witten’s departure. Darren Waller was named a Pro Bowler for the first time in his career in 2020 and 2019 fourth-round pick Foster Moreau figures to have a bigger role next season.
