Raiders steal Christmas presents in front of terrified family

Ruthless burglars helped themselves to Christmas presents in front of a terrified family after forcing their way into a Liverpool home.

The despicable raiders then fled in a stolen Mercedes people carrier after the sickening scenes in Woolton.

Police believe the burglars deliberately targeted the house in Vale Road on Sunday night.

The culprits forced entry to the house at around 7.30pm, even though the occupants were inside.

After helping themselves to Christmas presents and a mobile phone the burglars made off in the stolen Mercedes Viano (pictured) with the registration number KX14 MMO.

Merseyside Police said the two adult occupants "were thankfully physically unharmed, but left extremely shaken by the incident".

Police said the vehicle, stolen in Prescot on October 26, was seen being driven erratically to Ribble Road, where it was abandoned five minutes later.

The two burglars are thought to have then made off on foot in the direction of Kings Drive.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who saw the van being driven and ask anyone who may have dashcam footage to contact police.

Detective Inspector Jennie Beck said: "This was clearly a terrifying ordeal for the homeowners. It would have been incredibly frightening to have the security of their home violated by the offenders.

"While thankfully no one was injured, property was stolen.
