Raiders sign veteran QB Landry Jones

The Oakland Raiders have announced the signing of veteran quarterback Landry Jones, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jones was originally a fourth-round pick by the Steelers in the 2013 NFL Draft and has started five games in the league. When he has played, he has been competent, throwing eight touchdowns with a passer rating of 86.2.

Jones is the second quarterback the team has signed in the past week and is expected to compete with Mike Glennon for the backup job behind Derek Carr. If nothing else, this brings more competition to the roster as Jones has proven to be a quality backup in the NFL.
