Raiders sign LG Jonathan Cooper to replace Richie Incognito during suspension

With starting left guard Richie Incognito serving a two-game suspension to start the season, the Raiders were looking for depth behind Denzelle Good. They found that help by signing a veteran guard and former first-round pick, Jonathan Cooper.

Cooper was a top-10 draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals but has never lived up to his draft status. According to Pro Football Focus, Cooper has been nothing but a serviceable guard and not close to any chance of showing he can be elite. His best season was in Dallas, but even then he was still allowed to move after the season.

With that said, Cooper is still a nice depth piece for the Raiders with last year displaying a case for the team to keep more lineman on the roster with a plethora of injuries. I expect Cooper to compete with Good for the starting job while Incognito is out and possibly when the job outright.
