Raiders sign former Chargers DT Corey Liuget

Another former Charger has found a new home, in this case, with an AFC West rival.

Defensive tackle Corey Liuget signed with the Raiders on Sunday, according to the team’s official website.

It had been five months without a new deal for Liuget. Liuget became a free agent when Los Angeles elected not to exercise their option on his contract for the 2019 season.

2018 was a year filled with unfortunate events for the former Illinois product. He served a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy, and he suffered a season-ending torn quadriceps injury.

Through eight seasons with the Bolts, Liuget started 103 of 108 games, totaling 274 tackles, 24 sacks, 20 passes defended and six forced fumbles.

Liuget joins another former Charger, wide receiver Tyrell Williams, who was signed by Oakland in March.
