Raiders select RB Josh Jacobs with No. 24 pick in 2019 NFL Draft

After selecting Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell, the Oakland Raiders have picked Alabama running back Josh Jacobs with the No. 24 overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft. Jacobs has just 252 career carries, rushing for 1,488 yards and 16 touchdowns.

He was the MVP of the SEC championship game, rushing for 83 yards and two touchdowns on just eight carries.

With a report emerging this week that Marshawn Lynch will retire, the Raiders will need a new feature back in 2019. Isaiah Crowell was signed and is an excellent as a one-year rental, but both he and Jalen Richard are free agents after the 2019 season.

Jacobs is considered the top back in this class and is expected to be an instant starter in Jon Gruden’s offense.
