Raiders select RB Josh Jacobs in latest NFL.com mock draft

With just three weeks to go until the 2019 NFL Draft, and the names at pick at No. 4 are becoming clearer for Oakland. Assuming that Kyler Murray goes No. 1 to the Arizona Cardinals, that will means Nick Bosa, Quinnen Williams or Josh Allen will fall to the Raiders’ pick.

In the latest mock draft at NFL.com, Charles Davis gave the Raiders the Alabama defensive tackle at No. 4. But it’s Davis’ pick is at No. 24 that is far more interesting. Davis gave the Raiders another Alabama player, running back Josh Jacobs. Take a look at his explanation of the pick:

When Jon Gruden’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl, one of their rallying cries was “Pound The Rock.” This explosive runner can do that, and also catch the ball well out of the backfield. A new lead back is a must in Oakland.

While it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Raiders draft a running back in this class, picking one inside the top 25 picks does seem excessive. The team already has Isaiah Crowell under contract as well as Jalen Richard. Jacobs is a fine player, but he isn’t worth a first round pick. However, expect the Raiders to have some form of interest in the former Alabama running back.
