Raiders select EDGE Brian Burns at No.4 in latest CBS Sports mock draft

One player that needs to be discussed more in connection with the Oakland Raiders is edge rusher Brian Burns from Florida State. Even if that means picking him inside of the top-five.

As junior at Florida State, Burns tallied 15.5 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks in just 12 starts. As good as his stats were in college, his measurbles were even better. According to 3sigmaathlete.com, Burns tested in the 94th percentile for all edge rushers entering the NFL since 2013. He is simply an elite athlete with great college production, so what’s not to like?

In CBS Sports latest mock draft, writer Ryan Wilson had the Raiders select Burns with the fourth-overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Here is what Wilson had to say about the selection:

Burns played at 235 pounds last season but showed up at the combine at 249. He quickly alleviated questions about how that weight would affect his speed by blazing a 4.53 40-yard dash. He reminds us of Aldon Smith on the field and he immediately solves the pass-rush void left by Khalil Mack’s departure.

Burns is someone the Raiders must consider at pick No.4 because of his athleticism, production and the position he plays. Keep Burns in mind for the Raiders in the first round.
