Raiders select 2 Michigan defenders in latest CBS Sports mock draft

One common theme we see in mock drafts for the Oakland Raiders is the tendency to go heavy on defense in the first round. With the fourth overall selection, it’s very likely that the best player on the board will be a defensive player. But at picks No. 24 and No. 27, they should be able to go into any direction they so choose.

In CBS Sports’ latest mock draft, the Raiders selected Rashan Gary with the fourth pick and proceeded to take two more defenders later in the first round. Check out their first-round picks via Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports:

No. 4 – Rashan Gary, DL, Michigan

No. 24 – Devin Bush, LB, Michigan

No. 27 – Lonnie Johnson, CB, Kentucky

The best thing about this mock draft is that the Raiders addressed three of their biggest needs: edge rusher, linebacker, and cornerback. Devin Bush would instantly become the team’s best linebacker on the roster, and Lonnie Johnson would be a fantastic fit opposite of Gareon Conley.

While I don’t love the selection of Gary at pick No. 4, this mock draft isn’t half-bad. I give it a B-. What do you think? Could you live with this first-round mock or does it leave you wanting more? Feel free to leave your comments below.
