Raiders RT Trent Brown is Oakland’s new ‘baby face’ Assassin

With the NBA’s Golden State Warriors leaving Oakland for San Francisco, The Town is losing star guard Steph Curry, also known as “The Baby Faced Assassin.”

But Oakland is gaining another youthful-looking, cold-blooded competitor in offensive tackle Trent Brown. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict says looks can be deceiving with the Raiders’ new weapon on the front line, according to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez.

Burfict wasn’t the only teammate Brown — all 6-foot-8 and 380 pounds of him — terrorized in the first padded practice of training camp Monday. According to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, defensive tackle P.J. Hall learned quickly how much force Brown’s mass and acceleration can create.

The Raiders made Brown the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history in March, after he was a vital cog in the Patriots’ machine during their run to Super Bowl victory last season. Brown played left tackle for New England, but in Oakland, he’ll play on the right side, while second-year OT Kolton Miller remains on the left.

Oakland will have to enjoy Brown while he’s here—the Raiders are moving to Las Vegas in 2020. But with reports of the club’s training camp remaining in Napa, Bay Area fans have a realistic shot of watching Brown work for years to come.
