Raiders rookie RB Josh Jacobs nominated for FedEx Ground Player of the Week

It was another fantastic day for the No. 24 pick in the 2019 NFL draft as Josh Jacobs carried the Raiders’ offense to victory over the Bears in London. Jacobs touched the ball 29 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns as he led the Raiders to their now 3-2 record.

Because of his Week 5 performance, Jacobs was nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. Fans have until Thursday to vote for this award, which features other nominations, including Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers and Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers.

This is the first time Jacobs has been nominated for the award, and it certainly won’t be his last. The first-round running back is starting to find his stride in Oakland, tallying 507 total yards and four touchdowns through the team’s first five games.

With Gabe Jackson expected to return to the starting lineup after the bye week, Oakland’s rushing attack should only improve. And with Jacobs ready and able to carry the ball 25 or more times a week, expect there to be even bigger rushing outputs in the future.
