Raiders reportedly making last ditch effort to trade C Rodney Hudson rather than release him

Raider Nation is still reeling from the report that the Raiders will release Pro Bowl center Rodney Hudson. Some were wondering how a player as good as he is couldn’t have been traded.

At first, it seemed like the fact that Hudson had agreed to give up $3 million of his contract was the reason they would release him and thus allow him to pick his next team while the Raiders at some $12 million in dead money.

Well, Raiders must have been listening. Either that or they got some calls and decided that maybe a trade was possible. Because they are said to be now trying to trade Hudson instead of just releasing him according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

This doesn’t mean they’ll succeed in finding a trade partner. They could just be putting that out there to say that they tried. Hudson is one of the league’s best centers and is worth the $9.5 million a prospective trade partner would pay him this season as well as the $10.5 million he would make next season. He seems very tradable, but we’ll see.
