In surprising move, Raiders release LB Brandon Marshall

The Oakland Raiders have made their first cut of the weekend and it’s a surprising one. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders have released linebacker Brandon Marshall, who had been projected to start.

Marshall was signed this offseason and was expected to win one of the starting linebacker roles. However, he just hasn’t looked explosive and struggled in coverage. With the news of the release, the Raiders will save just over $1 million of cap space. Look for players such as Nicholas Morrow and/or Jason Cabinda to make the roster over Marshall.
