Raiders release second-year WR Marcell Ateman

With the 4 p.m., ET deadline approaching the Oakland Raiders have begun trimming their roster down to 53 players. After making the team as a seventh-round pick in 2018, the Oakland Raiders have decided to move on from Marcel Ateman, according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

Ateman caught 15 passes for 154 yards and one touchdown last year, but he was unable to beat out the likes of J.J. Nelson, Keelan Doss or Ryan Grant for a roster spot. The 6’4, 216-pound receiver still has practice squad availability and could be a target for Oakland if he clears waivers.
