Raiders release of Antonio Brown doesn’t hurt cap space

The Oakland Raiders have officially moved on from one of the biggest distractions in all of sports as they have released Antonio Brown on Saturday. However, many are now curious as to how the move impacts the team’s cap space going forward.

According to Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac, the move actually won’t hurt Oakland’s cap space at all. Because Brown didn’t attend enough offseason workouts, he couldn’t collect his $1 million signing bonus. And with the other $29 million of his guaranteed money voided, the Raiders will be off the hook for his entire salary.

Ultimately, the trade of Antonio Brown cost the Raiders a third and fifth-round pick. While the move clearly didn’t work out, it’s best that the Raiders cut their losses and move on. Now, they can focus on their rebuild as they develop the young talent on their roster. So long, Antonio.
