If there is one thing we have come to know about Jon Gruden’s (and Mike Mayock) time with the Raiders is that they aren’t afraid to admit when they are wrong. One of his best traits is his ability to move on from a player when it isn’t working out for the team.
This week, Oakland decided to release another one of their 2018 draft picks; former Oklahoma State wide receiver Marcell Ateman. The team needed to open up a roster spot for recently acquired Zay Jones from the Buffalo Bills.
Ateman was a seventh-round pick by the Raiders in 2018, starting six games as a rookie. He caught 15 passes for 154 yards and a score during his short stint with the team. Ateman is subject to waivers, but he could be a candidate to return to the practice squad if he isn’t claimed by another team.
