Raiders re-sign RB Doug Martin to replace injured Isaiah Crowell

On Wednesday morning it was announced that veteran running back Isaiah Crowell would miss all of the 2019 season as he injured his Achilles working out. Later in the day, the Oakland Raiders have re-signed a familiar face to replace him.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Raiders are bringing back veteran Doug Martin on a one-year deal.

Martin started nine games for the Raiders last season, filling in for Marshawn Lynch when he went down with a groin injury. Martin was modestly efficient in 2018, averaging 4.2 yards per carry and scoring four touchdowns on 190 total touchdowns. Look for him to help ease rookie Josh Jacobs into the starting role by midseason, at the latest.
