Raiders RB Josh Jacobs has forced the second-most missed tackles this season

If you were to just at the raw box score numbers, it would appear that Josh Jacobs has struggled some to start the season. He’s averaging just 3.6 yards per carry and his rushing yards per game has dropped from 88.5 down to 75.4.

However, Jacobs continues to be one of the best backs in the NFL from a metric standpoint. According to Pro Football Focus, he has forced the second-most missed tackles (22) and rushing yards after contract (285).

If the Raiders can get back Richie Incognito and Trent Brown can stay healthy, it won’t be a surprise if Jacobs sees his raw numbers rise significantly over the next 11 games. An easier schedule will also lend to more positive game-scripts for Jacobs that should allow him to see more touches.

Jacobs continues to be the team’s workhorse and among the most efficient running backs in the NFL. Look for him to have a big second-half of the season and to potentially earn the first Pro Bowl berth of his career.
