Raiders QB Derek Carr was one of the league’s most accurate passers in 2018

On paper, it appears Derek Carr had just an average season for the Raiders in 2018. He threw only 19 touchdowns as he led his team to just four wins. However, just raw stats don’t tell the whole story about Carr’s season.

Despite playing behind a very shaky offensive, Carr was incredibly accurate. According to Pro Football Focus, Carr had an adjusted completion percentage of 78.9 percent, the third-highest among all passers last season.

What is adjusted completion percentage? It accounts for drops, spiked passes, throwaways, etc. Essentially, when Carr was targeting a receiver, they pass was completed nearly 80 percent of the time.

Going into 2019, Carr is going to be asked to continue to be this efficient. But with the additions of Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams, that should only make his life easier on him. Look for Carr to smash his 2018 yardage and touchdown total while remaining one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the league.
