Raiders QB Derek Carr named fantasy sleeper for Week 9

While he hasn’t posted gaudy numbers this season, Derek Carr is playing some of the best football of his career in 2019. He’s been more aggressive throwing the ball down the field, and he has been efficient with his passes.

However, fantasy players are waiting for a big performance from the Oakland Raiders’ quarterback, and they might just get one this week.

At the Touchdown Wire, Pat Yasinskas named Carr as a fantasy sleeper for Week 9 as the Raiders are set to host the Lions. Take a look at why Yasinskas believes Carr could be in for a monster performance this week:

Contrary to popular belief, Raiders coach Jon Gruden doesn’t like to pass the ball all day. In fact, Carr hasn’t attempted more than 38 passes in a game this season. That’s why a lot of fantasy owners avoid Carr even though he’s thrown for at least two touchdowns in four of his past five games. But Carr could be worth a fantasy start this week. He’ll be playing against a Detroit defense that is allowing a league-worst 289.7 passing yards per game.

If you play Daily Fantasy Sports, Carr is one of the cheapest quarterback plays in Week 9 and should be able to return value on your investment. With a healthy offensive line back on the field and an improving set of receivers, don’t be surprised if Carr surpasses 300 yards passing and throws for multiple touchdowns against the Lions.

Everything is aligning for a big week for the Raiders’ franchise passer. Make sure Carr is in your starting lineup for Week 9.
