Raiders QB Derek Carr makes appearance in Chris Simms’s quarterback countdown at No. 19

Chris Simms is counting down the top 40 quarterbacks in the NFL. I suppose just to pass the time in the offseason. He’d gotten through the bottom 40 yet to mention Derek Carr. Today, just as he cracked the top 20, there was Carr at No. 19.

Carr makes the list just ahead of fellow 2014 second-round pick Jimmy Garappolo who was listed at No. 20 overall.

Honestly, that seems a little low for Garapoolo considering he was just in the Super Bowl a few months ago. One would think he would at least have to be in the top half of the league to do that.

Carr is usually hovering around the mid-tier of NFL starters each year, a couple times hovering around a .500 record and being in the playoff chase, but only having done it once. He averages about 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions each of the past three seasons.

Along with Garoppolo, the only current multi-season starting quarterbacks listed behind Carr are Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and Jared Goff.
