Raiders QB Carr officially starting Sunday against Chargers

ALAMEDA, Calif. _ Raiders' quarterback Derek Carr came off the Friday injury report, clearing him to start Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Carr suffered a transverse process fracture in his back less than two weeks ago against the Broncos. The injury normally sidelines players 2-6 weeks, but Carr will return after only missing one game.

"He'll be ready to play. I think it was smart to give him the week, which we did, even though he was pushing for last week," Raiders' coach Jack Del Rio said. "He's cleared to go and got the green light. Doctors and trainers all gave him the go. He had a full week of practice for the most part, so we're ready to go."

On Wednesday, Carr admitted there was still pain in his back. When asked whether he's concerned with the risk he's taking returning in just two weeks, Carr cited the risk for injury every time he steps onto the field.
