If you are still holding on hope that the Raiders can make the playoffs in 2020, you are now counting on a lot of the teams to be upset in Week 15. However, that certainly isn’t impossible given the matchups this week.
Here are the teams (and kickoff times) to pay attention to in Week 15 to increase the Raiders’ playoff odds:
Patriots over Dolphins 1:00 pm ET
Jaguars over Ravens 1:00 pm ET
Texans over Colts 1:00 pm ET
Lions over Titans 1:00 pm ET
Giants over Browns 8:20 pm ET
According to FiveThirtyEight, the Raiders have a 2 percent chance of making the playoffs this season. But if those five outcomes go their way on Sunday, their odds would move up to 9 percent. While that might not seem fantastic, that would make their Week 16 game against Miami very meaningful.
Assuming those games went in the Raiders’ favor today and they won in Week 16 and 17, they would have nearly a 50 percent chance of making the playoffs. They likely would need the Ravens or Colts/Titans to slip up one more time. And considering how inconsistent both teams have been this season, that’s not all that impossible.
Things aren’t quite over for the Raiders, but they do need some help. So put on your Patriots or Jaguars hat in Week 15 and root for some upsets.
