Raiders place Nathan Peterman on injured reserve list

As soon as the Raiders claimed DeShone Kizer on Sunday, the writing was on the wall for one of the backup quarterbacks on the roster.

On Monday, the team announced that third-string quarterback Nathan Peterman has been placed on the injured reserve list and he will miss at the least the first eight weeks of the season due to a shoulder injury.

Peterman was impressive in the preseason, completing more than 71 percent of his passes. He finished the four-game preseason slate with a passer rating of 97.1 as he threw three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Head coach Jon Gruden clearly loves Peterman, so don’t expect the former fifth-round pick to go away anytime soon. This is just a slight setback for the Raiders’ backup passer.
