Raiders place DE Arden Key on IR, call up LB Quentin Poling from practice squad

Late in last Sunday’s win over the Lions, Raiders defensive end Arden Key left with a foot injury. Monday, Jon Gruden said they feared he may have broken the foot pending X-rays. They got the news they feared and Thursday they officially sent the second-year pass rusher to injured reserve.

Key had appeared in seven games this season, recording four tackles (three solo) along with 2.0 sacks. Those two sacks came in his last two games, including earlier in the game against the Lions, giving him a career-high.

In a corresponding move, they called up linebacker Quentin Poling from the team’s practice squad.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker, was originally a 7th round pick (227th overall) by the Miami Dolphins in the 2018 NFL Draft. Poling spent the entirety of his rookie campaign on the club’s practice squad. He was added to the Raiders’ practice squad last month, just before Week 4.

Poling played four seasons at Ohio, starting 50 games, making 374 tackles (217), a school-record 44 for a loss, with 18.5 sacks, 7 interceptions, 21 passes defended and 7 forced fumbles.
