Raiders OL Rodney Hudson named 88th-best player in NFL by Touchdown Wire

With the NFL season just around the corner, it’s time to take a look at who are the best players entering the upcoming soon. And thanks to our own Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire, he’s made a list of the top 100 players entering the 2019 season.

For the Raiders, multiple players showed up on the list. But one interesting player of note that made Farrar’s ranking was center Rodney Hudson, who was named as the 88th-best player in the NFL. Take a look at Farrar’s thoughts on the veteran center:

With his freakish upper-body strength, Hudson is expert at getting his hands on any defender, and he can throw guys around who outweigh him by 30 to 40 pounds. And with his quick feet, he can transition seamlessly from defender to defender in zone schemes. In pass protection, he backpedals quickly, keeps his head on a swivel and strikes out against interior defenders with power and accuracy. Hudson is a free agent after the 2019 season, and the Raiders would be wise to start contract negotiations sooner than later.

Hudson was one of the biggest Pro Bowl snubs last season, and that could be in part due to the lack of team success. If Oakland can be a more competitive team this year, expect Hudson to get more national recognition. He’s simply one of the best centers in the league and is one of the best players on the Raiders’ roster.
