Raiders nab Clemson DE Clelin Ferrell in CBS mock draft

One of the most forgotten names of the 2019 NFL Draft class is Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell. After returning for his fourth season, Ferrell had another productive season, racking up 20 tackles for a loss, 11.5 sacks, and a National Championship trophy.

However, despite his incredibly productive career at Clemson, Ferrell hasn’t received much hype in this class. Players such as Josh Allen, Brian Burns and Jachai Polite have all gained more attention than Ferrell. But in a recent mock by CBS SportsChris Trapasso selected Ferrell at No. 4, to the Oakland Raiders. Take a look at all three of his picks for the Raiders in the first round:

4. Oakland Raiders
Clelin Ferrell, EDGE, Clemson

24. Oakland Raiders (via Chicago)
T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa

27. Oakland Raiders (via Dallas)
A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss

While Ferrell is a fantastic talent, using the fourth pick on him feels like a slight overpay. However, with Nick Bosa, Josh Allen and Quinnen Williams off the board, you can make a case that he was the best defensive player left. Consider Ferrell to be the worst-case scenario pick for the Raiders. Even then, that’s certainly not a bad pick. Not at all.
