Raiders move up to No. 23 in Pro Football Focus power rankings

The Oakland Raiders have been one of the most surprising teams in the NFL this season, picking up impressive wins on the road against the Colts and the Bears in London. However, not everyone is sold that Oakland should be considered one of the better teams in the NFL.

According to a recent article by Pro Football Focus, the Raiders finished just 23rd in the site’s power ranking list. Despite their 3-2 record, teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-4) and Los Angeles Chargers (2-3) both finished substantially higher on the list than the Raiders. Take a look at the site’s thoughts on the Raiders in 2019:

The Raiders picked up the win in London, giving them something to build upon this season, but they face a tough four-game stretch against Green Bay, Houston, Detroit and the Los Angeles Chargers after their bye week. Quarterback Derek Carr is playing pretty well, though, and ranks sixth among quarterbacks with a PFF passing grade of 79.4.

It’s fair to say that Pro Football Focus isn’t optimistic about Oakland’s chances this season. But if the Raiders can pick up wins against the Packers or Texans in the upcoming weeks, that will go a long way to proving the doubters wrong. Sitting at 3-2, the Raiders are still in a great spot to make a run at the playoffs later in the season.
