OAKLAND, Calif. _ Running back Marshawn Lynch was ejected with 6:12 remaining in the first half Thursday night for contact with an official with the Raiders trailing the Kansas City Chiefs, 17-14.
On third-and-10 from the Chiefs 43-yard line, quarterback Derek Carr took a shotgun snap and looked as if he planned on running up the middle. He was swarmed by Chiefs defenders, with Chiefs cornerback and Oakland native Marcus Peters the last to arrive.
The Raiders took exception, with Kelechi Osemele going toward Peters, and Lynch _ who wasn't in the game at the time _ came running off the bench to join the fray.
During the scrum, Lynch pushed an official, a flag flew and the Raiders running back was immediately ejected and escorted from the field.
It's unclear whether Lynch took the field to protect his teammate or Peters a fellow Oakland native, with whom he has a close relationship.
Up to that point, Lynch had played a minor role in the game, carrying only twice for nine yards while teammate Jalen Richard carried six times for 30 yards. Richard played 13 snaps at halftime, Lynch 11 and DeAndre Washington seven.
The Raiders ended up not scoring on the drive, with Giorgio Tavecchio having a 53-yard field goal attempt deflected at the line of scrimmage by Eric Murray.
The CBS broadcast reported Lynch left the Coliseum after he was ejected.
