As the coronavirus pandemic ramps up and begins it’s spread across the country, some states in the early stages are fighting hard to flatten the curve while bracing for further impact. According to the CDC website, as of this posting the state of Nevada had over 1450 cases reported. Those numbers climb by the minute and by the day.
The state’s newest major sports team is pledging their support and adding some cash to the fight:
The Las Vegas Raiders are proud to stand alongside the incredible community leaders that are doing everything that they can during this time of need. Health and safety is always our top priority and we’d like to salute Governor Sisolak, Jim Murren and the entire Task Force for their tireless efforts in supporting health officials and healthcare workers throughout the Silver State.
Raiders owner Mark Davis added in a statement “Las Vegas is our home and together we shall forever be VegasStrong.”
The franchise has its new Allegiant Stadium currently under construction as well as its new team headquarters. The stadium is scheduled to be ready in July while they hope the facility will be completed in May. No telling how long the COVID-19 epidemic response will keep states under stay-at-home orders or if that would delay the team’s ability to move in.
