Raiders look to interview former Chargers defensive coordinator Gus Bradley for same position

It always looked like it would be headed this way. Should the Chargers fire Anthony Lynn, the Raiders figured to be interested in Gus Bradley as Defensive Coordinator. Well, Lynn has been fired, and the Raiders are looking to interview Bradley.

Rapoport has since reported that the Raiders have officially requested to speak with Bradley.

The interest seemed like it was sure to happen due to the ties between Bradley and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden.

Bradley’s first NFL coaching job came in 2006 under Gruden in Tampa. After one season as a Defensive Quality Control Assistant, Bradley took over as the team’s Linebackers Coach in 2007, where he remained in 2008 when Gruden was fired.

Bradley moved up the ladder quickly from there, becoming the Defensive Coordinator for the Seahawks for four seasons before being tapped as the Head Coach of the Jaguars — a position he held for four seasons.

For the past four seasons, he has been the defensive coordinator for the Chargers under Lynn. In each of his past six seasons as a DC in the NFL, Bradley’s defenses have finished in the top ten in either fewest yards allowed or points allowed.
