Raiders LG Richie Incognito impresses in NFL return

After serving a two-game suspension, Richie Incognito returned to the field for the first time since 2017. Incognito started at left guard for the Raiders and performed better than the team could have even anticipated.

In Week 3, Incognito graded out the second-best guard in the NFL, only behind All-Pro right guard Zack Martin. Take a look at what Pro Football Focus had to say about the Raiders’ new star guard:

In his first game back from suspension, Incognito looked impressive, allowing just one hurry from 39 pass-blocking snaps for the Raiders. One of the few bright spots for the team, he also impressed as a run-blocker, with a PFF run-blocking grade of 81.4 on the day.

Unfortunately for Oakland, the team wasn’t able to run the ball much in Week 3 as they quickly fell behind 21-0 against the Vikings. If Oakland can stay more competitive in future games, the likes of Incognito, Rodney Hudson and Trent Brown should be able to wear down opponents in the run game.

Oakland certainly took a risk bringing Incognito out of retirement, but that move seems to be paying off already for the Raiders.
